On the Road Again

Another day on the road.  We drove north from Orick, CA and on the way I looked at the map to see if there was anything to see.  Spotted Tolawa Dunes and thought it sounded interested.  After MANY wrong turns we did find this state park and it was pretty so we stopped at the shore for a bit.  Onward and upward to Brooking, OR for lunch and a stop at Harris Beach State Park.  THIS place is fantastic.  So beautiful, serene and fun!  Final stop was within the Jedediah Smith Redwood Park on State Road 199.  THIS is also fantastic.  An incredible drive and we would love a full day just to drive and stop along the way.

Tolawa Dunes

Harris Beach

So fun playing in this little inlet where the waves came crashing in.  It was gentle at first but as the tide came in it was more of a challenge to outrun.  See the difference between the picture above and the picture below.

Wet waders.

Once the tide started coming in the girls got busy constructing a dam.

Happy family at the Redwoods.

 Good-bye for now glorious trees.

Oyster Dinner

Since we were near the coast Steve decided to get some oysters for dinner.  They were good - especially with heaps of melted butter!  I don't think anyone ate them but Steve, Carolyn and I.

I think the girls are sick of getting their picture taken.

Beach Date

One afternoon Grandma and Grandpa offered to watch the girls for awhile so Matt and I could go beach exploring.  It was so beautiful.  Perfect and peaceful.  The water/waves are so amazing to watch, quietly.

Our footprints.

Matt played fetch with this stick for a long time.  It was interesting as every time he threw it into the ocean it came right back to him, no matter where we had walked to along the shore, there was the stick.

So BEAUTIFUL!

The Beaches and Butts of Trinidad, CA

We headed to Agate Beach this morning and then Trinidad for some exploring!  Stopped for groceries, poked around the shops, and had lunch.  Avery was particularly cranky at lunch - I cannot remember why - so after a bit we let her take some pictures with our little camera.  This is where the butt shots come in.  She thought it would be funny to have photos of everyone's butt.  Grandma Carolyn managed to escape!

Tide Pools at Agate Beach

Truly a magnificent hike down to the beach.  SCENIC!

We stopped at Trinidad Beach.  A place daddy and I had stopped about 10 years earlier with Grandma and Grandpa Groothousen.  We even had lunch at the Seascape...right on the pier....same place we had lunch many moons ago.
